Current Events > Anybody else in California feel the sudden rise in crime? I'm scared

Every single day, I see on the news something a shooting or a mugging happening in SoCal. People are getting followed back to their homes and robbed at gun point. Even last week a well known tiktoker by Matt Price got shot and killed when he was walking to a convenience store.

I live a few blocks near my school campus and I usually walk to school. Now I'm seriously afraid of getting mugged while I'm walking back home. When did everything become so dystopic? Anybody else feel the same? I want to save my money and move to somewhere safe like Japan or Canada. USA is too dangerous.

Crime is up everywhere.

I've been seeing news pieces about mob smash and runs on stores in CA, done by large groups of people.

Makes you wonder how it's even possible to collude on such a large scale? Then I realized most of these guys are from the housing projects. You have like 20-30 buildings with everybody knowing each other in the projects. It's not hard to say "hey neighbors, let's grab and smash some stores!"

The police should start investigating those areas first.

The governor didnt do that. We have a robust referendum system here. Most of the crime and sentencing changes came from the voters.

It was heist pulled on voters called the "Safe Schools and Streets Act" which has not resulted in safe schools or streets.

Seth lives in a bubble. He fails to understand that car jackings are a big thing to people living in poverty.

Its everywhere. Covid happened plus the lax of crime due to recent events happened. Many states like mine, can no longer arrest for misdemeanor crimes. Jails are handing out releases before I even impound the evidence of the crime. DAs are essentially dropping everything unless its a violent felony.

juvie wont even accept any arrestee unless its the mandatory arrest domestic violence. I arrested a 16 year old with a stolen gun and stolen car and his mom just picked him up immediately before I even left the lobby. He got arrested the next day again.

While still not the 90s. Crime has risen everywhere. Murders too.

So if that 16 year old gets released again and commits a murder, can the victim's family sue the state for negligence because they failed to keep a potential criminal behind bars? I was staying up watching HOODvlogs on youtube and some of the gangbangers mention recruiting young kids because the punishments are very light even for murder. What can we do to stop this? Are we forever going to live in this type of dystopia?

i have seen a bunch of media reports and FUD by people on the internet.

the only thing ive noticed increasing are side shows. but, no, i dont walk outside and get stabbed by some dude mugging an old lady and then go to the store while its being robbed and then buy crack off a baby outside it.
