The start menu remaining blank unless I absolutely pin stuff to it is pretty stupid.

I have it installed on one of my laptops, it's not bad, just a couple of minor issues I have with it, otherwise if everyone was forced to upgrade to win 11 tomorrow, I don't think it'd be a massive deal.

also the right click menu making you hit the "more options" button to access the normal one is annoying

Promising, but unfinished. It was clearly rushed so that PC manufacturers could have a big selling point for products this Holiday season.

The overall UI looks a lot better and animations look a lot nicer but other than that, it's basically a better-looking Windows 10.

It should not have been released as early as November let alone October. Wait about half a year to see if things iron out.

Despite the new UI, they still haven't addressed the elephant in the room in that they're relying on archaic UI frameworks that date back to the Windows 9x era for things while continuing to half ass things like the settings app (and half the stuff is still in Control Panel).

how long is the free upgrade for? i don't really plan to upgrade my existing laptops. i'll stick with windows 10 on those. i have thought about building a new desktop from scratch. the one i built is nearly 10 years old now running windows 7. don't plan on doing that for like a year or maybe not till i buy a house. either way windows 11 should be good by then.

I like it more than 10 tbh, faster and no bugs seen so far.

this is what I would recommend honestly. Bouncing between windows 10 and 11, I can't see any reason to update at this point. It's not like with windows 10 supporting directx 12 and better SSD support over windows 9. Give win11 some more time to mature.
