Fuck this "Sonic games were always bad" nonsense. That game was amazing when it came out and it still is stupid fun.

Fishing was god awful and I still don't understand it after getting every emblem. The rest was cool though. Glitching into other characters' levels was a blast too lol. I still say 2 is better though.

I played it for the first time a couple years ago and it was shockingly bad imo. And I'm somebody who likes games like Castlevania on NES (and regularly play classics on NES/SNES/N64/PS1 for the first time).

Theyre the same. DX has a better Chao garden I think. And most importantly, DX has all the Sonic Game Gear/Master System games, which is worth more than any 3D Sonic game.

That might be true, but SA1 is still the best 3D Sonic game to date.

I remember Sonic Heroes being better (a decent game).

But I haven't played that game since before the PS3 came out, so I'm not sure about that one.

Both SA games were like half a good game at best.

Sonic/Shadow/SA1!Tails parts were largely good.
Eggman/SA2!Tails/E-102/Amy parts were okay at best.
Knuckles/Rouge/Big parts were unfun garbage.

And now for the spiciest take. The Chao Garden was an unfun, unrewarding grind.

I do like both games, and think the anti-sonic meme is dumb.

As for those fishing levels, I really wish they made us of the Dreamcast fishing controller.
That would have been dope!

I didn't know there was such a thing, but hey, it couldn't make the fishing any worse, so why not?

How. DARE you? Okay yeah, chao grew up way too slowly and it took way too many animals/chaos drives to beef them up, but I still loved them. The different evolutions and secondary evolutions were neat and breeding them for half-tone colors, shiny colors, and even invisible chao was a lot of fun. It's baffling that there hasn't been a dedicated chao game, especially in the age of gachas.

I always liked the treasure hunting gimmick of Knuckles. Gamma is great for being a third person shooter.

Amy's section is freaking Resident Evil for kids. I've come around to appreciating it. You have no idea how stressed I was to play the Amy sections.

I never cared much for the Chao garden. It's just ok

It's because a lot of Adventure fans played the FAR less glitchy original Dreamcast version.

The one Sega keeps porting is the not so definitive DX version. If you have a PC, play it on that and download the Dreamcast mod

What's wrong with that? Tamas were big enough back then and CG was definitely did the genre well. And Nintendo's got Tomadatchi Life or whatever is still evolving it n keeping it alive to this day.

Not really true. DX introduced a lot of weird bugs. A lot of the instances you see where people just randomly clip through the floor and die are from the DX port. DX port also changed up the graphics, ending up with strange lighting and texture issues. There's a mod for PC specifically to revert these changes back to the Dreamcast version

That said, I enjoy SA2 way more than SA1. I think it holds up a lot better

has a lot of boring moments but overall it's a really charming and interesting game

people really misrepresent the dx port: the dc version was just as giltchy, but in its own and different ways (and many glitches did get fixed)
the dc version ran at 30 fps with dips, the gc version ran at 60 fps with dips

I feel like it's one of those games people either give too much praise or shit on too hard. I remember a review that said something along the lines of it bit off more than it could che and I agree with that. Should've focused on refining the core gameplay instead of adding stuff like fishing for some reason. Really Rose, Biggs, and the robot should've been cut out.

I wonder if the same person or people who came up with Gamma's story also were the ones who came up with Sonic Heroes' Team Dark story.

It was the last game that was truly ambitious in that series. The others from there were just expanding on different bits of Adventure's formula.

I would love to see a true sequel to Adventure. Shit, Sonic's high speed yet exploratory nature would work amazing in an open world.

I have it on Steam. But there was some part that prevented me from going forward with the story.
I will look for that mod though.

Also as for the fishing levels it would have been cool if Sega made that compatible with the fishing controller. Which actually had some motion control to it.
