Honestly, with Mari, everything is missing. Look at all the gap-filling I did in my fan theory, lol.

That's a good point, I guess it's either an oversight or not even supposed to make sense. The only other explanation i can think of is that gendo is either imagining it or it was Mari's mom who was actually there and she taught Mari everything about the Eva's?

Mari was kinda just used as a plot device anyways, which really sucks considering she makes a great character.

If they ever do more (they probably will) i hope she gets fleshed out some more. Even just some understanding of her character more or some small reconstruction or even tweaks to make things more reasonable with her.

Mari is the end of Evangelion.

She's the only one left standing with Shinji at the end. It's like her presence itself altered the chain of events.
