That thread is full of dumb fucks.

There's a dude trying to say that 39.75hrs a week isn't full time and they're trying to lock you out of benefits. Other folks saying these places that are in desperate need of employees will drop you the day before your probation period ends.

Bitch about shitty working conditions, mandatory overtime and terrible wages all day. Get that dumb fuck propaganda stuff out of there though. A large portion of these idiots don't even understand what they're striking for.

All that matters is that they are striking.

Pretty much all the same deals will be ran at other stores or price matching will occur. They need to strike though.

Overall yes.
But those dumb fucks in that thread are going to be the same idiots ranting about unions stealing their money soon enough because they're "not doing anything".

you're saying this isn't a problem?

i worked for a union grocery store for a while. according to the union contract, any part-time worker who works full-time hours for six consecutive weeks must be given full-time status (and benefits). so you'd have a cashier work 48 hour weeks for five weeks, and suddenly get scheduled 38 hours...
Full time status for most places starts at like 32 hours

Damn. That's a shame. Amazon will never come to heel or collapse if American workers don't fight them.

huh, nice. i've worked a lot of 50 hour workweeks for a part-timer lol
There's no federal guidelines but it's generally 30+/wk or 130/month on average. If you were union then yours really needed to step up. Every factory/warehouse job I've been in has been 32.

I just looked up Amazon though. Theirs starts at 36/week.

I would think striking the Monday after would probably be more harmful. I don't think Amazon does the bulk of its holiday shipping until after the holiday itself. That's the day the stuff needs to be picked and packed.

I worked many years at UPS and FedEx. It's counter intuitive but black Friday itself is crazy for shipping stuff once you hit afternoon or later shifts. The following week is heavy but more evened out. Striking Friday ruins scheduling for the entire following week.

As they say on Shark Tank, it's a good problem to have.

Good, I hope they do. Working a union job has been my best job so far, and I hope Amazon eventually gets unionized. My company still posts record profits every year and I think has one of the highest employment rates in the country, Amazon will still rake in billions and billions even if they cry about having to treat their employees better.
