Think of a vaccination as wearing armor. Having it decreases the likelihood of you coming to harm but it doesnt protect you from all harm.

So when is it over in your opinion? If literally everyone on the planet was vaccinated, would you say it's still not good enough?

Just more proof that the vaccine isn't perfected enough to grant herd immunity by itself. People must pass the virus to one another until permanent immunity kicks in.

That or wait until a more effective vaccine is possible. The fact that what we have supposedly lessens the severity is a good thing. Shouldn't we just totally live life normally now since the spread is inevitable? It may take 5-10 years to get a comprehensive vaccine that works as well as the ones like polio etc.

And yet people will still rant and rave how the unvacc'd are why we're still dealing with the virus and they're the problem. Apparently not.

That's not going to cause permanent immunity. Immunity wanes for most infections; those where it doesn't are the exception rather than the rule. However, what will happen eventually - and vaccines will help us get there faster, because they train our immune system to fight it just like an actual infection does (just without the downsides of getting infected) - is we'll reach an equilibrium where everyone has enough immunity that infections tend to be mild, and the virus circulates enough to keep immunity around that level, just like what happens with the various common cold viruses.

The whole reason covid is such a big problem is because of how quickly it can cause so many cases that the health system gets overwhelmed. Being vaccinated greatly reduces - no, doesn't prevent, but greatly reduces - all four of the risk of a person becoming infected in the first place, the risk of them infecting others, the length of time for which they can infect others, and how likely they are to actually need medical attention.

So yes, the unvaccinated are abso-fucking-lutely still the problem. No, the pandemic wouldn't be outright over immediately if every single unvaxxed person were to go get vaccinated overnight, but the impact would be so, so, SO much less.

Stop looking for excuses to justify a conclusion you came to with zero evidence, long before the covid vaccine even existed, and refuse to give up on despite that zero meaningful evidence has at any point come along to support it.

lmfao what?

The whole "natural immunity is better than vaccines" argument is ridiculous

Their basic stance is "everyone should get infected. whoever dies, dies"

Isn't it obvious? The cure for AIDS is to have as much sex with people who have HIV as possible!
It all makes sense now. >_>

Lol, truly nutty. My family is all fully vaccinated and there's zero chance I'm skipping any shit this year. If people wanna live in fear even with the vaccine, more power to em. I doubt most people in a town that's 99% fully vaxxed is gonna skip out either.

that's something different tbh. it's the ones who aren't vaccinated. they themselves put a risk on the healthcare system and others.
family gathering's okay in that scenario.
