Theyre saying Im not eligible because I dont work in an environment with increased risk. Heres the thing: there are dozens of spots available, so obviously people arent rushing out to get it where I live.

If I go ahead and schedule it anyway (claiming that I do work in such an environment there ARE plenty of open slots), will they ask for some kind of proof or will they just give me the shot?

I walk on the trails a lot and am constantly passing massless people, so I dont want to get/spread it.

This is Walgreens, if it matters.

I guess it entirely depends where you go. We're giving boosters to anyone six months out from their last shot.

i think they required an ID last time and my name.
so they could verify i was that person at the time at walgreens

standard procedure. just hated getting the shot but i gotta do it for myself mainly as i have a huge risk of dying if i get covid.

edit: they're going to announce boosters soon enough for the general population just before or shortly after thanksgiving.

Are you overweight (not an insult)? You can use that as an excuse for being at elevated risk.

Irregardless, for all intensive purposes, I could care less.

Keep in mind you can be overweight without appearing overweight. It's really based on your BMI.

There's talk that the CDC will expand booster eligibility to all adults sometime this week.

Im not, so I dont think theyll buy that.

I guess maybe I will wait two or three more days before scheduling it. This is so dumb, though. I think we learned last year that the 65+ crowd doesnt even want it, so why make the rest of us suffer? If its not available within five days, Im going to lie because they should be available to anyone smart enough to want one.

I was asked to sign something that basically said "scout's honor" without asking for proof.

I would say that I wouldn't lose any sleep if you did lie. Currently supply is much greater than supply in most areas.

They don't actually ask for proof of the eligibility requirements. They just take your word for it.

I did it for myself at Costco pharmacy, and my mom at Walgreens.

At this point, you're not really taking the shot away from anyone.

I got it today, but I have asthma so technically I qualify. But also, they at no point checked or asked for proof. (This was at CVS)

@Payzmaykr Has it been at least 6 months after your second dose?

It has. It was 5/12, and I just scheduled my booster for 12/30, so there will be a bit of a lapse in time. There were plenty of open appointments, so we all just have to get in line. Its not fair to tell me that I have to not have it during the mad Christmas shopping rush. If you want it, you should be able to get it.

Have you tried a different pharmacy/provider? Many of us have gotten it without being qualified or having to explain

No, I just tried the one thats like three minutes from my house. I have two weeks, so I may try other places and see, then cancel my Walgreens appointment if I can find a better one.

The thing is that they said the CDC guidelines were what prevented me from getting it, so I dont really get why that would be the case. Other people in different states are getting it, so the only thing that would makes sense is if my state rules were preventing me, but it specifically said cdc. Weird stuff, but Im going to check other places anyway.

Yeah I thought they were available to all adults in the U.S. at this point tbh. Maybe im thinking of the first shot/first 2 shots.

Other places are now saying that due to high demand, we are only giving it out to essential care workers.

Most of these people must by lying, so I dont have forever to wait in this. A two week wait is already risky enough. My city is overpopulated and most people dont work at all, so I know people are lying about it just to get the shot.

Nobody in my family qualified for boosters yet but everyone got them at CVS, no questions asked. Just lie on the form.

EDIT: I also live in a low-vaccination area, so maybe that's why.

That's weird. I got the J and J back in July. I saw boosters were approved and I know J and J was the "least effective" of the main ones so I went Saturday and got a second one. No one questioned anything about where I work or who I am around. Kind of weird other locations are having issues.

Yeah, if that's the reason they're telling you that you can't get one and you really want one... Just tell them you do work in an environment with increased risk. They aren't going to check that.

Pretty sure one of the risk factors was smoking cigarettes at one point. Not even currently smoking them. So just say you used to smoke cigarettes

My coworker was told he couldn't get the booster for that reason. So he said he DOES work in a high risk environment. They didn't verify anything and just gave it to him.
