I hope you arent implying that there is anything amusing about people who might be too young or sensitive, seeing content that is intended for older and wiser viewers, and misunderstanding it in a way that leads them to harm themselves as a way to cope with trauma in their life.

a warning like that can be a useful thing to pop up in the peripheral view of a busy single parent noticing that their 4 year old found a way to get around the parental lock because children are all the way stupid and all the way smart at the same time

so grow up about that

Actual self harm is a seriously issue, but how it's used in the fictional ninja world of Naruto is not anything similar to people who cut themselves or worse in real life and the tag is strange, along with smoking tags.

Examples: Sasuke stabbing himself to free himself from fear, summoning and other blood jutsus.

If your 4 year old feels the need to hurt themselves to feel something, watching Naruto isn't the problem.

Maybe, I dont know about Naruto. But I imagine theres a good reason for a warning like that even if its something that would seem completely fine and benign to say a 9 or 10 year old

Actual self harm is the issue my friend. Thats why the warning is there.

Is Naruto about self harm? Almost certainly not I imagine.

Kids can get all sorts of bizarre notions in their heads. Some kid can overhear something and misunderstand it and it can fuck with their whole development. Theres unfortunately a lot of people who get a lot of their life lessons from fiction. Sometimes fiction that is simply not well written.

A kid can simply think theres something cool about something they are seeing and decide to try it just out of curiosity. And kids are extremely impressionable. Self harm is a very real thing that young people are especially vulnerable to.

So fuck off with any kind of nanny state rhetoric BS, theres a lot of young people going through some real shit. A few benign caution labels arent gonna fucking hurt you.

Not at all. Calm down.

The nanny state is real.

Guess what? Life is hard and painful but the pain and hardships provide the best soil for growth.

More often pain and hardship just cause trauma. What do you think happens to a kid when they start doing some dumb thing they saw on some older kid show that causes them pain? They get addicted to the euphoria response from the brain and some of them are just forever lost to it.

Some of that soil shouldnt be soil yet.

I started painful ninja training at 8 because it seemed right. I'm stronger for it. Well before naruto.

I don't hurt myself daily for pleasure. I don't even hurt myself at all. Your research is incorrect. But pain is growth.

We all have our own demons and scars to contend or attend to in our own way.

Its the people who forget their traumas or simply dont experience them due to privilege of circumstance. Those people often miss some crucial but yet to be defined part of development. Something just seems missing.

I started painful ninja training at 8 because it seemed right. I'm stronger for it. Well before naruto.

your experience has no effect on other children who have entirely different challenges and experiences compared to you. Their safety matters enough to learn more about the things that lead to self harm in young people and its not gonna harm anyone one bit to throw up a damn caution label.

your anecdotal experience doesnt count for shit beyond inflating your own sense of self worth. If it actually works, Id talk to someone about that.

it doesnt work that way, individuals are an infinite spectrum of variables and experiences

the fact is that a lot of young people and a lot of people in general harm and kill themselves, and the reasons why can be very broad and sometimes shockingly mundane

I dont think its too much to ask to check your cynicism if only for a moment and respect and understand that a caution label like that as stupid as it seems to you, might be something that keeps a different kid that didnt know what you did from going down a tragic path with a tragic end
