A global pandemic is ravaging the world and it's being exasperated by a good portion of the human population denying its existence, not accepting even the tiniest inconvenience to save their fellow man, and refusing a free, widely available, and safe vaccine. Countries all across the gobe have seen a rise in right-wing authoritarianism and it's only getting worse. There is democratic backsliding and a majority of the world now lives in a country without democracy. This is all not even 100 years after the Holocaust. The global middle class is shrinking and more and more of the wealth and power of the world is in the hands of few and few people and corporations. A small number of big companies defacto run the world. And it's only going to get worse. The internet, created as a tool for education and communication, ended up leading to political extremism, misinformation, and solidified the post-truth society that we live in today. Humanity lost the war on climate change. Even if we were to refuse course right now, steps should have been taken decades ago. In the coming decades, we're going to feel the devastation. Our species is somehow simultaneous the most intelligent and stupid species to ever exist on this planet. We've terroformed the planet to our liking yet lack the foresight to learn from a single one of our mistakes as a species. We'll keep repeating the same bullshit generation after generation until something, be it climate catastrophe, nuclear war, or a deadlier global pandemic wipes us out and puts us out of our misery. ...yeah.
