Schools dont teach kids essential life skills like how to budget correctly the importance of diet and nutrition, and how to treat other people which matter infinitely more than algebra 2 and analyzing some century old novel

If you go into "high skill" employment, no.

My high school had a basic nutrition class, but in retrospect it was full of dubious information. A basic financial literacy course would be nice, though.

How can they preach diet and nutrition when the food they serve is pretty much the cheapest crap they can find. So many processed carbs, so little fruit & vegetables.

How to treat other people truly falls on the parents. That is something you should be viewing every day. But everybody is heads down in a screen now so that isnt learned.

Math I argue the good paying jobs require critical thinking that you do learn from higher level math.

Budgeting I teach my kids. I mean you really cant rely on the schools to teach everything. But again part of it comes from what they observe in real life. I could afford the newest phone, but I am still using an iPhone 8. I am teaching them to live below their means so they have a financial cushion.

School isn't to teach you the information you learn. It's to teach you critical thinking and how to learn. You're practicing at learning.

At least in theory. In reality, become a good obedient worker! Don't ask questions.
