It's a solid 6.5/10

The low score is because of review bombs because people have a searing rage towards Larson for reasons I've never understood

Some of that is definitely because of hate for Brie Larson but the movie also isnt very good either. Its like a 4/10

Any score that low would mean the movie is basically an incomprehensible mess that was filmed poorly. Which Captain Marvel was not.

alt right neckbeards bandwagoned against that movie with people like the quartering leading the charge. so yeah it has bad user reviews.

in reality it's typical marvel movie fare just like the rest of them.

It's a mediocre movie that's carried by Samuel L. Jackson because the main character is as charismatic as a 2x4

I enjoyed Captain Marvel. I don't pay attention to scores on RT or MC or whatever. I just form my own opinion about whether I want to go see something and go see it. The vast majority of the time, it works out well.

It has a lower score than The Room.

Like, whatever you think about Brie Larson or the sexual politics of the movie, you have to be really, really bullheaded to think it's actually a 2.9 in terms of craft.

I don't even get why they review bombed it, it's not like the critics shit themselves over it. The critic review is at 64, isn't that basically a good popcorn flick by metacritic standards?

I liked it enough. Solid enough for a Marvel film...it's not like they're higher art, or anything.

But I also like Larson quite a bit. Her whole, "Hey Peter Parker..." part in Endgame is one of my favorite macro-moments in the entire marvel filmography. I find her charisma extremely affecting.

It was definitely underrated. I don't know how much but it's at least a 6/10 and probably higher. I thought Brie did a really good job. I just don't really like how the ending sequence she was essentially unchallenged.

Reminds me of the end of Whedon cut of JL where Superman solos and that's all folks.

It was mediocre and I think its mediocrity was magnified because Infinity War's post-credit scene directly tied into Captain Marvel, making it look like the bridge between Infinity War and Endgame when it actually didn't matter that much at all.

Ant Man 2, comparatively, was also pretty mediocre and came out between Infinity War and Endgame - and also weirdly actually DID matter to Endgame's plot. But no one really cares to harp on it as much I think because it wasn't hyped up much to begin with.

I actually think Brie Larson does a really good Captain Marvel.

Like if you read the modern comics, she's pretty much got it down to a T. Unfortunately, part of Captain Marvel's thing is that she's not necessarily likable >_>
