seemed super arbitrary, when you could get the other stones regularly, iirc, but with the Soul Stone, a sacrifice was required.

Because if both of them died, neither of them would have gotten the Soul Stone, but both of them did so much stupid shit putting each other in danger to be the ones that killed themselves.
What if they both fell off the fucking cliff at the end?

I'm applying logic to the only two characters that aren't superpowered or smart to the point of magic. Logic should be the main fucking theme between these two.
It would have been so much more poignant if they accepted that one of them was to die and Nat didn't throw herself off a cliff to catch someone who already threw himself off a cliff not two minutes after she said if they fuck up, billions stay dead.

The other part of this is that the whole scene kind of oversimplifies the original challenge of the stone, which is the person who wants it has to sacrifice that which they love most. Not only does throwing yourself off a cliff maybe violate the rule in the first place, but it also makes the bowl of sumption that the other person loves nothing more than you.

If nat was going to go through all the effort of hurling herself off the cliff to catch Clint, it should have been because she knew he wasn't the one and that his sacrifice would have been in vain.

That's actually not what Red Skull says in Infinity War. His specific words are:

In order to take the stone, you must lose that which you love. A soul for a soul.

Nowhere is it implied that it has to be something they love most.

That wasn't even the most stupid part of Endgame. The most damning thing was how after Thanos had to visit a planet full of dwarf forging gods to create the Infinity Gauntlet, some random on Earth was able to create another one even though he had zero understanding about the Gauntlet or the Stones.

It was goofy looking in how they were fighting each other, and they didn't do enough to build up Clint and Widow's relationship. Widow was actually all over the place with her love interests, and Clint has his own family.

Compare this to when Thanos got the stone. All he did was drag Gamora and threw her there, but there was so much more emotional weight to the scene.

some random on earth

-created an arc reactor in a cave with a box of scraps
-created dozens of highly advanced weaponized flying suits
-created a highly advanced AI
-discovered a new element
-created a sentient AI
-created nano tech
-oh yeah, also figured out time travel

Also had help from rocket and Banner when creating the gauntlet. And weeks? Month? Of formulating a plan and understanding the stones with the rest of the Avengers.

I swear the lengths some of yall will go. We will believe in Dwarven space magic immediately but not a dude whos had a dozen movies of on screen demonstrations of genius.

Once they got to that point, and Clint said they were thinking about it the wrong way, I thought he was going to throw her off. He'd already gone villain earlier and would do anything to get his family back. I think that would've been more interesting. Her fighting to buy more time to find a better solution, and him just trying to get the stone.

This didn't happen.

Thanos has the Nano Gauntlet that Tony, Banner, and Rocket made, and Tony just yoinks the stones onto his suit using his suit's control of said nanomachines. The original gauntlet isn't involved at all.

I agree that Endgame kinda...sucked compared to Infinity War. But I think Infinity War simply was the superior movie.

I definitely feel like they should have still had to fight the original Thanos, but Captain Marvel existing is an issue, she's just too broken in this compared to the rest

Though the snapping, that's more or less how they KNOW how to activate the stones. I'm sure there are other ways, Thanos uses the gauntlet in many ways. It's just the only way they know how to do it 100%.
