A majority of Americans now disapprove of President Joe Bidens job performance, while half give him low marks for competence and uniting the country, according to results from the latest national NBC News poll. Whats more, the survey finds that 7 in 10 adults, including almost half of Democrats, believe the nation is headed in the wrong direction, as well as nearly 60 percent who view Bidens stewardship of the economy negatively just nine months into his presidency. One year before next years midterm elections and less than a week before Virginias closely watched race for governor, Bidens lower standing has also taken a toll on his party: Democrats trail Republicans on which party better handles the economy, inflation and immigration, while theyve lost ground on issues like education and the coronavirus.

Democrats face a country whose opinion of President Biden has turned sharply to the negative since April, said Democratic pollster Jeff Horwitt of Hart Research Associates, who conducted the survey with Republican pollster Bill McInturff of Public Opinion Strategies. The promise of the Biden presidency knowledge, competence and stability in tough times have all been called into question, Horwitt continued. What people voted for was stability and calm, added fellow Democratic pollster Peter Hart. And what they got was instability and chaos. The NBC News poll comes after a rough summer and early fall for the first-year president, as hes faced a new surge of coronavirus cases and deaths, fallout from the chaotic U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan, rising inflation, disappointing jobs numbers and Democratic infighting over Bidens legislative agenda.

I mean...he's not done a great job. He's consistently had opportunities to make positive steps but refuses in favor of remaining with the status quo of the moderate democrat. I've seen a lot of blame towards Manchin, who has poor ideals in his own right, but Biden has plenty of power to make change as well.

You keep up the constant lies and more people start to believe them.

EDIT: It doesn't help that Democrats are held to a standard and Republicans aren't held to anything.

It seems more like its a reflection of the democrats getting so little done after being a position where they should be able to push their agenda.

The dems should be in crisis mode IMO. They cant get shit done, there is a leadership vacuum after Biden, and the GOP is having success making it even harder for dems to do well in states that matter like Florida, Texas, and NC. If they dems get smoked in the midterms (which I think will happen) their window closed.

I am not as confident. The counter culture always seems to lead progression of ideals, but now the country has become so accustomed and friendly with the old counter culture, that the new counter culture is being a hard right republican. It's not a popular stand point anymore.

And with Harris as the front runner for the Dems, most likely, come election, the Democrats will lose HARD to a Trump campaign.

It's more that they are on a non-stop blitz to overturn elections they lost and severely limit voting ability alongside packing courts. this is to say nothing of gerrymandering. all strategies appear to be having some success, so we are in trouble regardless of how much mass popularity the Republicans have.

That's one of the reason why you don't see much reporting on Congressional approval ratings. They're just pretty consistently abysmal and the only really shift by a few points in each direction.

Basic human rights being a coin flip from destruction is not something to take lightly. We need to assume and prepare for the worst given how successful mass murder and insurrection has been. Millions of voters are lining up to give these animals the country for good.

the radical and arguably better solutions that the democratic public want will never be instated by him. he's a moderate. sanders was the guy for the stuff people want rn but oh well
