I thought my family put the lights out to early when it was the day after thanksgiving. Seen Christmas stuff in the local Lowe's in August though.

the holiday store close by has already switched from halloween to christmas, completely skipping thanksgiving

I have a neighbor that put his lights up before labor day. And all he has is a string of lights that goes along the front of his house attached to his gutters.

I wouldn't be against putting mine up mid October. Just get the kind that changes colors. Have it Orange for Halloween, and change the colors to Red for Christmas. Course I'm probably going to be doing that after Christmas inside, putting leds behind my couch and above my cupboards.
