I think he's the only Gryffindor death eater.

I think there were Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw death eaters but that might just be something Rowling made up after the books, which is generally nonsense.

Rowling is pretty terrible at worldbuilding.

She's also a TERF.

I'd argue that Rowling is pretty good at world-building, in the sense that the wizarding world feels alive, lived in, and we actively see a lot of their culture and mythology. It just all falls apart to even the most elementary deconstruction. >_> for a kids/YA series though, I dont think thats a huge deal.

But yeah the House system is flawed. I remember first reading the part of CoS where Harry is hiding in the dark arts shop and sees Malfoy with his dad. Even at 11 years old I was like, "yeah, Malfoy makes a lot of sense now. Wonder how he'd turn out if he made friends with people who weren't Slytherin"

Rowling is good at broad strokes world building, but she's terrible at the details and following the logic through. Which is fine. For all its popularity, HP is a kid's story.

There's a lot of shit in HP that's really, really stupid if you take a magnifying glass to it and really analyze it.
Yeah, like who the hell would want to eat a chocolate frog that they might have to literally chase around the damn room?

Though i am amused when fans try to justify this stuff with "Slytherin is the house of ambition!", as if personal ambition above all other values isn't just sociopathy >_>

And the ones who get loose in the final battle try to stop Harry & nearly kill him, so that was completely understandable.
