Just got out of Dune (it was great btw, watch in IMAX it's worth it) and a bunch of people were talking super loud throughout the movie. Over the sound, and especially during quiet moments. Absolutely awful audience experience. I had to tell the people behind us to stop talking lmao

Same shit happened when I watched the Green Knight too. Hope this doesn't continue to be a thing. Just watch the shit at home if you want to talk.

I like going to the theatre. Some movies are just fine at home but for other movies, only the theatre experience will do.

As for the audience, maybe try a different theatre.

Im surprised people acted like that at an IMAX. Maybe its because Ive only seen documentaries at my citys IMAX theatre (and its attached to the museum) but it always seemed like a respectful crowd.

When I saw Halloween kills the theater was 50% adults and 50% young teens and the young teens were absolutely obnoxious as fuck.

i wished the theater actually enforced the R rating for once.

So you want more people unemployed because theatres would close and you want to decimate the film industry?

I know they would use other avenues like Amazon Prime or Netflix but theatre takings are important for those that are in theatres.

What other industries do you hope for COVID to destroy?

This. People sneaking into movie theaters, people being loud, rude and disrespectful during the movie, and people even trying to have sex in theater. Most people in general suck.

Yeah people are dicks. Last movie I went too people talking the whole movie. Like just stupid idiots

I went with my wife and her brother to see an Imax viewing of The Ghost in the Shell recently. It was only playing a couple of days, so I had wrongly assumed that the audience would just be fans of the movie.

We had young teens talking and joking the entire movie, to the left and a couple of middle aged women came into the theater about 20 minutes in, walked all the way to our row and sat at the end. They talked loudly for about 10 minutes then left. These things were ontop of the assholes that feel the need to check cellphones every five minutes

It had been so long that I hadn't realized how much I hate going out to the theater anymore.

theyre just culturally irrelevant these days as shown in the posts here, people cant even go 10 mins without checking their phones. cinema overall has been pretty bad for some time now, just rehashes upon rehashes and no one can push the boundries anymore. but hey, if you like spending $30 just to see a movie with all of this extra nonsense to deal with just to complain about it after then you do you man.

or just accept that people talking loudly, being inconsiderate and now phones lighting up all the time is all a part of that experience you are spending $$$ on

I went to go see The Green Knight a few months ago and this bitch sitting in front kept pulling her phone out throughout the movie.

Like, just periodically throughout the movie, this distracting little white light would pop up to the far left of me. Some pricks really can't control themselves with their phones jfc.

But still, I love going to the theaters and it's not like this happens every single time I go. Of all the movies I've seen post-lockdown so far (saw Dune yesterday with no problems), my experience has been good aside from the Green Knight one I described.

I barely go the movies as is, but when I do, I'm rarely on my phone. I can check all that when I get home.
