I can 100% confirm that the way they act in the movie is barely exaggerated. I laughed harder at the gag reel in the credits than I did the rest of the movie. I wouldn't go so far as to say I hated Step Brothers, but I definitely didn't like it (I definitely ended up hating Adam Scott, who didn't get redeemed in my eyes until Parks and Rec).
