yes and I love baseball. cut down on the crotch grabbing, pitch delaying, eye wiping, gamesmanship, walking around, etc. they have the lamest rules no one ever enforces for that crap.

I mean, it's slower than other sports, but that doesn't mean it's bad. I love watching baseball live. On TV, it kind of depends how I'm feeling, but I watch at least a few full games on TV every year.

There's always stuff happening behind the scenes. Once you know about the game, you pick up on that stuff. I can definitely see why somebody who's not into it would be bored.

You have to know what you're seeing and not seeing. Ever been to a chess match or a go tournament? Unless you understand the strategy, it just looks like two people sitting (or kneeling) at a table.

The contemplation of possibilities to achieve a result and the quality of the execution of the decided upon strategy have to be understood to be appreciated.

Baseball, like chess and go (weiqui, baduk) needs someone to Sherpa you through the understanding process.

Even then, not everyone will be able to keep up.

Baseball has always been my favourite sport and I've got no problem with the pace of the game.

I played baseball growing up and was a pitcher. So I can understand and appreciate the 1 on 1 dynamic between pitcher and batter.

It's not neccesarily "slow", but games take too fucking long. Most games are almost 4 hours long, sometimes more. That's fucked up. You go to a game at 8 PM and you get back home past 1AM.

moneyball works until the undervalued parts aren't undervalued. now most teams understand that but teams like the Rays have stood up to teams with 4-5x their payrolls each year. that's the point.

Plus you get shit like the Harden era Rockets that played to the stat instead of the situation. And last years Rays lost to the Dodgers by playing to the stat instead of the situation by pulling Blake Snell.

Every stat in the world said Tommy Lasorda should not have put lame Kirk Gibson in. We know what happened next.

there are plenty of low budget revenue sharing leeches who suck every year and high spenders who also frequently suck so it doesn't seem like you have much of a point about good teams who don't spend a high amount. you also assume their goal is to win the championship every year. and many teams have won using their principles in part or in whole, just with a bigger budget.

The moneyball teams are suckering their fans. A few stat geek reporters, pod casts and websites egg them on but they're not trying to seriously win at all. They're just keeping the lights on until the fans go home:

Well don't hold your breath TC, because there has been suggestions presented to MLB all the time for improving baseball to bring in more fans & MLB said no. So they'll stay stuck in 1920's for the foreseeable future.

Found it slow and boring when I was younger, but the slower, more deliberate play has appeal nowadays.

As a baseball fan yes I wish it was faster. Somehow in the 80s games were an hour shorter than they are now.
