You don't have to do anything special. Just stay inside the building from sundown to dawn. You can watch Netflix all night if you want. Or whatever. Could even bring over some game consoles and hook them up. Whatever you want

As soon as it's dawn, the rich guy opens the front door, peeks inside nervously, hands you a check for 1 billion dollars and then runs out of the house screaming

A lot of people know they aren't real, but a lot of people also have emotional dissonance from what they know. For example, I went to a haunted building with friends. They acted cool about it until someone heard a noise. They went chicken but it did nothing for me. I suspect it's not too far from a reflex, like flinching.
