Despite living in a large area there's practically no job opportunities. I applied for a local retail position and in the middle of my interview I hear loud knocking on the door to the manager's office. Two people came in; one of them yelling "This is fucking stupid", was told they were fired right on the spot and left. The other person went into this tirade about how they've been there for three years barely making any money yet "no one gets promoted" and was also fired on the spot.

The manager apologized and I just walked out. This shit is getting ridiculous.

Those 2 were probably chronic complainers and lazy, I would have taken the job and did better than them

Depending on the job I'd say it's a huge red flag for the company and that manager in particular if employees are acting that way

Personally I would have tried to find those two afterwards and asked what happened that lead to their decision.

Sounds like being there for three years with no pay increase or job security took its toll, if they got fired on the spot with no disciplinary action first.

The person interviewing you clearly signaled them to put on this little play. They felt it would be awkward to outright tell you that they weren't interested in you and felt this overly elaborate approach was better.

You should be as rude as possible telling them to fuck off if this is the state of their company and wish them an eventual bankruptcy.

I effectively did that this summer...without coming out and saying it mind you.

Anyway, that sounds like a wild interview.
I've seen some red flags in my day, but that is a red fucking beacon.

This reminds me when one of my bosses hired me, he was firing 3 other workers... two of them were a Bi couple and ended up kicking his car. They were screaming and such.

At least they had the balls to speak up. Companies take advantage of people because they're afraid to say anything. They could have handled it better.

Like at my job. When I was hired 5 years ago I was making $7 more an hour than people in less demanding positions. They all kept getting raises to reach a certain dollar amount that I was already over, so now I'm only making $2 more an hour than someone off the street who can be trained to do grunt work in 5 minutes.

What's the point in having a skill if you can make almost the same stacking boxes and chilling when there's nothing left to do.
