Because it's a joke that plays on the reality that there's a difference between natural vaginas and trans vaginas? It's increasingly obvious that much of the chagrin people seem to have with Dave is based on their own refusal to be honest with themselves.

I think some people want to view biological women and transwomen as the exact same, and that's neither accurate nor fair. Dave's joke simply acknowledged that there is in fact a difference, and he did it in the same relentless offcolor way as he cracks all his other jokes.

I really don't think it's that complicated. Some people are born with vaginas and some people aren't. There's intersex people but that is rare and I don't think they consider themselves to be trans either. There is always going to be a difference between a "naturally occurring" vagina and a surgically created one. Trying to gloss over that is disingenuous.

Not to say one type is better than the other of course. They're just different. It shouldn't be a jaw dropping thing for someone to make a joke about that. :v

I already have, the guy has spent several specials making fun of trans people and then said he's team TERF.

You're assuming the chromosomal makeup of all trans people. I know at least a half dozen trans woman who was born intersex (xxy chromosomes) who had a vagina at birth and had it sewn shut and were raised as a boy, only to be a woman the entire time.

And it's not pedantry. It's saying we're not women at all but something entirely different. It's like the difference between saying "the blacks" and "black people".

And that's not what's happening here, the issue is how you state they're different. Referring to a trans man's post op penis as "phoney balogna" is fucking offensive if it's coming from the mouth of anyone but him. It demeans the struggle to get there.

Now is the part where anyone capable of introspection would shut up now and admit that they're wrong for defending a self admitted transphobe and do better in the future.

I'm not. I'm saying that the vast majority of people are born either male or female. If a person transitions, their biological makeup will still be different than that of someone who's naturally a certain sex. And that's okay. We don't have to pretend that's not the case to respect trans people.

Hey whether you feel shame is your own business. People are just telling you how they've felt about this and why they don't like it, and historically the kind of harm attitudes like this can cause.

If you're internalizing that you should be feeling shame, though, maybe address that?
