My math professor wanted me to tutor this woman in my class, because she missed a couple weeks and needed to catch up. Her mother showed up on campus and started talking to me about the best day to meet with her daughter.

I got spooked. The mother wanted me to meet them at their house. When she gave me her address, I noticed she does not live in a good area. I feel badly, but I just can't trust people when I don't know them very well. So I let her know that I would be happy to tutor her daughter, but only on campus or a public setting.

I think I made the right call but what do you guys think?

I feel like, what matters most is that you feel comfortable with the situation, and if something nags at you about it, you should follow your instincts, even if your uneasiness turns out to be unfounded.
