Series is awesome.

Couldnt take it seriously to really get through it. Tone of the game is more out there than dmc and thats a pretty high bar to begin with. Might give it a serious shot if the rest ever stops being Nintendo's hostage

It's great but difficult to get a feel for. The second playthrough is better than the first.

The sequel is a much better experience for beginners. In fact, after thinking the first game sucked, I enjoyed 2 so much that I went back to the first to give it another chance. I have 80 hours in 1 and 50 hours in 2. 2 is a much better casual experience, where 1 is a pretty rough casual experience. But the pay off for learning the more advanced mechanics is much higher than 1, and the actual combat is more tightly designed.
If you don't like 1, give 2 a shot imo. It's also easier to understand what is even happening in 2. --- <insert sig here> ... Copied to Clipboard!

I have only played the original and I think its really good.
