My guess is that they are doing this as a measure to dissuade other employees from trying to be heroes in this situation. Some people wouldnt come out unscathed, and if other people are present, they could be injured or killed in the process.
Hopefully they do right by her in the long run. I dont think she deserves to be punished for this in the slightest, but at the same time, others shouldnt try to forcefully stop someone who has a gun. As much as I hate corporate overlords, Subway is right here. It's a few hundred dollars in the till, max. She could have gotten injured and they'd be liable for much more, or a customer could have gotten injured and have grounds to sue Subway. Don't be a hero, it's not your money anyway.
