This is something, as a younger Blue_Dream, I kinda wanted and wished for but never really met anyone I felt anything real for. Also tried a long-distance relationship with my ex after I graduated high school and that fell apart because I couldn't keep it in my pants. That was like 12 years ago though and I've matured since then.

Been playing the shit out of a certain critically acclaimed MMORPG with a free trial up til <redacted>, and got close with my guild. I consider them friends and we've bonded a lot over the past year. One person is especially friendly and she's pleasant to talk to and group up with. Value her judgment and she's shown a lot of concern for me in my darker times. Anyway, today she slid into my DMs and started dropping *mad* hints. I played dodgeball because I've avoided online/long distance relationships. But I've considered that some other people in our guild also met in game and got together irl/engaged/etc. . This girl is clear across the country so meeting up isnt gonna be easy, but I've moved before and I started thinking to myself, if there would be someone I'd like to seek a relationship through a game with, it'd be her.

Im still weird in my head about this because I avoid long-distance like the plague, but I've also avoided relationships period. Was wondering how many of y'all have had experience with stuff like this, positive or negative. Trying to get my head on straight and figure out mah feels.

I don't see anything wrong with it, but I imagine they come with all of the complications of long-distance relationships and are kind of compounded since you're dating before meeting in person.

This isn't always true. My best buddy growing up was an Asian fellow that drove from Colorado to Washington state to hook up with a girl in his WoW guild. Months later, very preggo, she told him "It's your baby" and he damn near ad a heart attack and then the baby popped out decidedly not Asian and she ended up admitting that it wasn't his.

See, this is where I'd have to go in and discuss an open relationship before getting serious. Im down for non-monogamy, but I'd need to communicate that first instead of further along in the relationship

I did long distances when my ex had to move home for family issues. Shits hard and straining.

But at the same time, I'd do it and see if it's for you. Some people have a lot of success for it. My homie met a girl on wow and he flew to meet her.

I wouldn't start planning your life with her but talking online and stuff won't kill you. I wouldnt give her any personal info or nothing like that either.

Talked to her today and we decided to try some kind of relationship. Taking it slow and not jumping too far into things, gonna try to talk every day and spend some time outside the game together.

Kinda exciting, her first time trying long distance and been so long for me I forget how to do it.
