well that sucks. thought it was different people in charge but it's more or less the same ones.

the wachowskis got a bit too full of themselves(like peter jackson) so i doubt it'll be anything more than a "high art" piece that most of us probably "won't understand"..

Yeah, I don't know how they can change the story by adding anything else that's clever and believable, but oh well. They'll get my money anyway.

There's a ton of directions they could go in. Just not one that would require neo. An uneasy truce between humans and machines doesn't automatically resolve the issue of the planet being borderline uninhabitable, competition for resources as more people opt out of The matrix, how to handle rogue AI elements or viruses, what happens as more and more people realize that they can have superpowers if they just believe, etc.

They could very easily spend most of the movie playing cyberpunk Van Helsing, or turn it into my hero academia where they have to set up superhero regulation because too many people are using their nearly discovered powers for crime or vigilante justice.

If the primary metaphor in the original trilogy is about change, it wouldn't be very hard to make a sequel movie around the often unexplored issue of what to do after when things don't turn out as idealistic as hoped or promised.

After how the last movie ended, they better have a damn good reason why there should be a sequel.

I wonder if it'll be like the first one of the sequels
I loved the action scenes in Reloaded as a kid to the point I'd sit there just them on replay over and over.
I watched the Neo vs Smith clone fight the other it's aged absolutely horrendously. Nowadays I prefer the more gritter and slightly more grounded feel of the first one.

I sill don't understand how Neo had his powers outside the Matrix. These movies were supposed to be grounded in reality in the sense that everything in them was scientifically possible or at least someday, and then Neo get telekinetic EMP powers outside the Matrix. It's like they just gave up and said fuck it let's make it a superhero movie.

That felt like it was either an abandoned plot thread or just somehow tied into their heavy-handed Jesus metaphor. Like, given the fact that they had literal ports installed in their body it's not unreasonable to think that they also had some sort of equivalent or Bluetooth or NFC chips in them. So what was happening wasn't actually that neo had super powers but that his mastery of the matrix had allowed him to communicate with the electronics around him using the electronics in his body because his digital side (soul) never really leaves the matrix when he logs out.

Edit: but generally I agree with you that having options for an interesting sequel is not the same as creating an interesting sequel if it's coming from the same people who couldn't even create interesting sequels in their original trilogy.

I don't even remember what happens in the last two movies. All I remember is it being dumb and I not liking it.

Plus I hear Fishburne isn't in this one and that sucks. He's cool.

I heard The Matrix Online (the dead mmo) is considered canon and Morpheous dies is that so...

Yeah no Laurence Fishburne is certainly a strike against the movie right off the bat. Two strikes when you consider he said they never even asked him in the first place.
