Think about it, if you didn't comply, would that be ok with the government? No. That means you don't have a choice.

It's a fine. Not the end of the world if people are willing to pay.

Plenty of people aren't complying in places like Sydney. Which is why it is so bad here.

totalnerdken posted...
Just because you happen to agree this time doesn't mean you'll agree the next time.

The fucking Government themselves don't want to do this. The Prime Minister has whined about lockdowns for months until Sydney fucked up. The NSW premier had to be dragged into placing stricter measures.

Sometimes extraordinary circumstances need extraordinary measures. There's no reason to be stubborn over health orders when it saves lives.

If the world goes to shit thanks to stuff like Global Warming who knows what the future we'll need to live in anyway. We have it pretty good overall and whining about lockdowns and masks to help stop the spread of a pandemic is dumb .

You know what the secret behind facism that no one realizes is? You can always justify it for the greater good and it's not seen as facism even though it is.

If you're fine with that, then so be it, but just be aware that you are ok with facism under certain conditions.

And yet without the lockdowns people would be forced into coming into their work and get the virus. Which is significantly worse.

I get that, I'm not disagreeing with you. Im not agreeing either. I'm just telling you that you are ok with facism under certain conditions.

It's not really fascism with these measures exist due to public pressure to begin with and not because the Government was eager to do this.

These measures are needed for the irresponsible minority and the money hungry employers.

If measures such as these are being enforced by the government, it's facism. Even if the people want it. All it means is that the people are ok with facism under certain conditions.

Also, you literally just said "irresponsible minorities". I know it's not the same minorities as dictated by progressivsm. But it is a kind of minority that is having rights taken away. Like, this is textbook facism.

It's a minority who are endangering others due to their behaviour. No different than drunk drivers and other behaviour that risks the health and safety of others.

The difference between driving drunk and this is that to drive drunk, you have to do something extra. This situation is where something has to be done to you. So it's not an accurate parallel.

Plenty of people and businesses have to do plenty of extra work to keep people safe. If they don't they're penalized.

If a workplace accident leads to injury and death due to negligence they are investigated and penalized. If someone speeds and kills someone they're penalized. If someone knowingly breaks the rules during the pandemic they should be penalized too.

The combination of a limo driver not wearing a mask, a birthday party and a weak reaction to an outbreak has lead to the deaths of over 100 people and counting. Something had to be done.

Again, you have the government, going around to minorities, taking their rights away. Like, am I wrong about that? Because that sounds a lot like facism to me.

Everyone is under the same restrictions including Government officials. Not just minorities.

That's etched in the first page of every Republican's Bible, isn't it?

It's the truth though. Once you let your guard down and tell the government you're ok with the government taking rights, they aren't giving them back. So it's the public's best interest to not let their guard down for even a minute

Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.

People really love being slaves today and surrendering freedom for security, its pathetic.

I'm not opposed to strict covid restrictions but this is insane
TC neglects to point out this is only for people arriving in the state from overseas, or who have tested positive for Covid, or been in close proximity with someone who has confirmed Covid. Very clickbaity.

I despise this country right now. I can't wait to get double dosed with the vaccine, the borders finally open so I can find a way to leave and never come back.

It's disgusting how much Australians here have just turned on each other. Instead of being critical of bad vaccine roll out or ridiculous authoritative restrictions in place we'd all just rather blame each other for why we're in this mess

Melbourne was has had ridiculous lockdown for I believe the longest time time during the pandemic and they're wondering why compliance has gone out the window.
Not even allowed to gather in small groups outside, locked inside your residence for 23 hours a day, masks outdoors even when you're by yourself, 9pm curfew even though we've finally gotten it through our thick heads that covid zero isnt lasting forever. Shits fucked.
