At work today I looked around at one point to count how many fat people there were. Most of the people around me were obese. One man was so fat he was literally waddling.

What a waste of your youth.

smh being physically healthy is the best thing ever and CICO isn't hard
The problem is that the food most people eat (read: prepared processed foods) are specifically engineered to be as addictive as possible, and as a result they're also extraordinarily unhealthy. Food like that is an addiction, and most people need to try hard to not let it take over their lives. I know if I buy a bag of chips (I'm talking a big bag) or a half dozen donuts they're gone within the day.

Not completely. Accessibility is a massive player in this as well.

Fruits are absolutely delicious and a great replacement for sweets. Lots of veggies are fantastic too. One of the biggest issues out there is that things that are healthy cost a Hell of a lot more money than things that are not healthy. Buying a package of strawberries can be 4 dollars for a small carton. Fruits go bad so fast too, which makes them even less appealing to buy at a high price. Meanwhile, a package of oreos are cheaper, and can be stored a lot longer.

As a fan of artichokes, it blows my mind that some stores by me sell them at 4-5 dollars for ONE. These take me about 2-3 hours to cook, and I have them sit overnight, which on-top of the price, can be a pain in the ass to deal with.... but me? I am willing to go through it when I can get them cheap enough (Whole Foods sells thick ones for 3 bucks, so I go there) ..... meanwhile, McDonalds sells junky fries and hamburders for a fraction of the price, and already prepared.

A single bottle 2-liter bottle of soda could cost 1 dollar, while a single bottle of water can cost more than that. This one blows my mind.

Not saying people don't like junkfood, but if fruits and healthy food was actually cheaper, it would be amazingly easier for people to diet and get back on track. But we live in the worst country when it comes to food regulation and pricing.

Until this shitty country re-thinks the way we price food, we are going to continuously head down the path of decline. 'Richest country in the world' or not, our riches are distributed terribly and many people can't afford to eat healthy. I am constantly throwing away things like asparagus, broccoli, avocados and berries because things go bad so fast. It's completely understandable for people with low-wage jobs to not want to dish out prices on healthy food just to have to throw them away a few days later.

Yes, junk food tastes great, but I believe that if healthy food was easier to afford, people who have the will to be healthy would buy those items in place. I for one, would always, always take a fresh, ice-cold watermelon over anything in a box. Then again, I have an amazing paying job that allows me to buy these fruits and veggies and if they go bad, it's not much of a financial loss.

Well, if you had clicked, you'd have seen that industrial toxins are another possible cause. It's not to say that diet and exercise don't matter, but that some kind of pollutant is messing with people's bodies and tilting the scales so that more diet and exercise is needed to maintain a normal weight.

The two super weird facts that can't really be explained otherwise are that animals are apparently getting fatter as well and there's a strong correlation between obesity and altitude.
Yeah if you live at a higher altitude you live in rocky terrain and therefore do more incline walking

Really if someone walks 1 mile in the great plains where elevations are low versus someone doing a 1 mile through the rocky mountains in Colorado who the fuck do you think has a higher energy expenditure this shit isn't rocket science.

People are becoming fatter because more jobs than ever consist of sitting down in front of a computer, on a forklift, standing in one place to occasionally flip a part or push a button, etc.

Jobs are more centered around a mind numbing sedentary lifestyle than ever. Not only that, but in general, people are ALSO working longer hours than in the past and when you have people working 10 hours a day as the norm, the motivation and effort required to cook your own food at home is next to non existant when a person can just go through a fast food place or a convenience store and have something to eat 20x faster than if they do it themselves.

Seriously. If you want to have 3 high quality meals every single day with 2-3 good snacks throughout the day you can expect to spend at least 4 hours of your time every week JUST cooking. No one has time for it anymore. In relationships both people working is the norm because it's not affordable for one person to work anymore.

There's no one at home who has the time to cook high quality meals every single day. There just isn't. So people get into this vicious ass cycle of eating something at home that's not so bad health wise but then it's still all really stressful with all of life's demands so they have to cope with fast food, a convenience store, vending machine, etc just to survive.
