For example, If you live in LA, the internet would work 9-5. New Yorkers would be free to contact between the hours of 12-5, because their hours are 9-5 east, or 12-8 PST. But, since the internet shuts down in LA after 5pm, New York would be inaccessible after 5 PST.

I think if anyone likes to bitch and moan about "globalization", this is a great solution.

in the words of the immortal goldmember.... "how bout no, you crazy dutch bastard". A lot of my friends and family have weird hours. Some of us work a regular day job, meaning according to your definition, we would never have access to the internet.

All this would do is give more money to cable companies as you wouldn't be able to watch stuff like Netflix, or Crunchyroll and would be forced to rely on cable tv, which btw is always the worst possible choice. Imagine having to sit through hours on hours of Storage Wars because nothing else is on tv without a "package", which costs far more than your generic internet.

I got my time zones mixed up. Swap LA with NY
