Is how long parts should last

Some songs will repeat 2 bars 16 times for a verse, some will have 2 4 bars...

How do you plan that shit out

i mean

that's true for

like

everything

start writing songs, you'll pick it up
I have written a few but most come out bad... I deleted my soundcloud though. I had a death from above rip off song that was good, but it was basically just like 5 riffs

Idk

Look up how Tool structures songs. They use Fibbonacci numbers and the golden ratio. It's kind of ridiculous

Some people can pull it off...others can't.

'Keep it Coming Love'....I find horrible.
To the point of insulting.

Meanwhile, Bach can say, 'Kyrie Eleison', for about 10 minutes, and it doesn't get old.

It all depends on the execution.

The easy solution is to copy the structure of songs that you like. If you're making electronic music, you should even go as far as dropping the song into your DAW and creating time markers for each section. You can then use that same structure for your song.

Or you could just learn organically

What do you mean by organically, and does that really matter as long as you get to the final result that you want?

Although most popular songs seem to repeat things more than I like, so what do I know
if you break down a lot of songs you will find a lot of repeated parts that go on for longer than it seems like. vocals usually make parts seem shorter i think, which i never have in my songs.

but usually when i explicitly structure intro verse chorus verse chorus chorus, it just doesn't come out... quite right. rarely makes the 3 minute mark unless i strain the repetition

i guess a song at 150 bpm with an 8 bar intro, 16 bar verse, 16 bar chorus, verse, chorus, middle eight, chorus, chorus is exactly 3 min

'be a better song writer' seems like the best answer, at least
