The new S21 ultra and base model (the plus model not included) is 200 bucks off at Costco starting September 1st if you need a phone now.

https://slickdeals.net/article/buying-guide/costco-coupon-book/

That being said, black Friday is in a few months and they're likely to drop 3-400 off the retail price for that line as they've done for the past 2 years if you want to wait longer, but they may not do its up to you if you want to risk it. So to answer your question, in terms of bang per buck your better off with Samsung if you wait a bit for deals like these.

for me it's not even close, I need an android phone. iphones just don't offer all the tools an android does, and I also find them more cumbersome to navigate. I just wish samsung would make a mini phone like apple did last year.

Apple for me.

Samsung has failed me with the S10+. Never received any updates for my phone since day 1. Also sucks when it turns out it depends on your carrier and yet, Samsung phones usually stop getting updates after nearly 3 years.

Already planning to get the Iphone 13 soon. FFS.... my first phone which is a 2014 Iphone 5S is STILL getting updates from Apple.. lmao.

iPhones are a safer bet. They have a long-ass shelf life, retain their value even when they're old, and you're guaranteed at least 5-7 years of major updates.

I dont know what you're smoking because I've had my Galaxy s9+ since release day in March 2018. I get regular updates, the most recent being earlier this week....about 3.5 years after its release.

Phone still works great. Unlike iPhone, I was able to add a micro SD card and expand my storage space. Only downside is battery life dies quickly, but its partly how I use it. I literally get like 100+ notifications a day, anything from work texts, personal txts, friends group chat, work group chat, spam personal emails, spam work emails, etc. I'm also always on my phone for work purposes. If I'm not using it heavily, the batter still lasts me for the day. Even if I do use it alot, it'll still get me through my work day until I commute home where I can charge in my car. I want to get a new phone only cuz my screen cracked cuz my toddler literally dropped it on concrete while I was holding him. Otherwise I would probably have kept using this phone for a while longer.

I've had iPhones in the past, last one being iPhone 6s plus, it dramatically lost efficiency after about a year, and after about 2 years it was un-usable. Storage was all gone, I had to carry a portable charger with me cuz the battery died too quickly. It was was great for about a year, after that it went to shit quickly.

I will probably never go back to apple again tbh. Android is just better.

I literally had an S10+ for a year and got updates monthly like clockwork, so I don't know what the hell he's talking about.

I just don't know about my case. I've been told by other tech junkies that my S10+ couldn't get updates simply because it's not a "USA" model. Meaning that I have to return my phone back to my seller (Best Buy), and tell them about the issue.

I remember checking my phone model and what shocked me was that... it was a Venezuela model? I've been told that overall, I got very unlucky and the only option is to convince BB to get a new model. Yet it was too late for that.

I can also just send my phone a tech and possibly reset the phone entirely. yet I already have tons of family photos that im going to move to a hard drive.

So yea... make sure you're phone model is the same as your country. I have a dam Venezuela phone and I can't get updates here in the US.. lmao.

If you really got a Venezuelan phone when you purchased it from Best Buy in the US and expected a US model, then I would definitely hit up Best Buy corporate through something like the BBB and make them fix that. This is not ok and it doesn't matter how old it is.

The IMEI will prove it's a Venezuelan phone because Best Buy Mobile corporate will confirm it by contacting the carrier. Tell them that you're not getting updates, including very important security updates. Or make up some extra shit to stress how stupid they are for giving you a foreign phone.

Best case scenario, they refund you the entire amount or replace it with a brand new US S10+ if in stock and possibly the S20+ if not. At worst, they'll apologize and throw you like a $50 gift card your way for the fuck up.

Amazon does this shit with video games because their warehouse guys are fucking stupid. People constantly get the EU versions of games when they ordered the US version, shipped and sold by Amazon. Most customers are also stupid and don't care, but it fucks with DLC even if you don't care.

I don't understand how you guys even hold onto your phones for 3+ years.

After two years the battery goes to shit on these flagships. My career requires me to have access to my phone and not tethered to an outlet for charging. So phones stopping receiving updates outside of security updates are kind of moot. 3 years is usually the max I'll hold onto a phone for.

For the first two years. Then steadily becomes harder to do. I say this because I've had samsung galaxies for the past several generations.

You can get your battery changed for like $60. I could see myself doing that tbh. I don't like how they got rid of the bixby button for their new phones

First off Bixby sucks, and secondly you can program a Bixby button if you want it.
