How many stupid same renditions of WW2 do we need from the CoD/Battlefield franchises? Seriously.

It's like the devs ran out of ideas, yet there's a million out there staring back at 'em. CoD could have tried WW1. Or how about the Korean War? The Afghan-Soviet conflict? The Sino-Japanese war? The Boxer Rebellion? The Russian Revolution? The Irish War? The Mexican Revolution? The Spanish Civil War? The Japanese conquest of Asia?

NOPE. Instead they say, "LET'S GO BACK TO WW2 KILLING DEM NAZIS SHALL WE". As if there arent already 1 gazillion other WW2 video games in the market already, here's another one for you!!

There was something like this I think. Like 15 years ago

I remember sometime in the mid 2000s I was watching an episode of XPlay. They did a review of a Vietnam game that had 2 campaigns. One for an American, and 1 for a Vietcong. I have always wondered why they can't do that for ww2 as well. Let us play as Japanese, German and Italian soldiers. It would be interesting

They tried fictional futuristic wars and people bitched. Granted they did the same thing three fucking games in a row so that's their own fault.

Should have more of a rotation with modern, historic, future.

Pre-WW2 stuff might be nice but at the same time even Battlefield 1 felt like WW2 reskinned

I know it was was too much for me to expect something like Red Orchestra where 90% of players have a bolt-action rifle, but dammit, it was still disappointing that they found excuses to give everyone automatic or semiautomatic weapons. It just didn't feel authentic.

I had a CoD rip off game that was about the American civil war. It wasnt amazing but for 20 bucks it was enjoyable. They made the reload speeds take a long time to reflect how it really was. So i ended up killing a lot of people with the saber(union side) or the bowie knife (confederate side)

Problem is the gun technology fades away by that time. You wanna play a game where you spend 10 minutes reloading a rifle that will only fire one bullet later?

Civil war gsme had you play both union and confederates. Just make the battles historically accurate and its not so bad. Nazis might be pushing things though.

Or if they wanna add fiction have you play as a Nazi thats just a "patriot" but slowly over his campaign he starts realizing how fucked up the Nazis are but dies before he can attempt any meaningful change.

As mentioned civil war game. Im sure they sped up the reload times of the guns but it was slooow.

This isnt the 2000's anymore.

I for one welcome more WW2 shooters, like the most common setting is modern/near future in these shooters.

We also literally got the Cold War in the last COD.

Im good with another WW2 game, WW2 games are probably amongst my top five COD games of all time.

My fave CODS:
  • World at War
  • Cod:WW2
  • Black Ops 2
  • Advanced Warfare
  • Modern Warfare 3
Its just a really a shame most of these are dead and dont have crossplay.

I would kill for if Activision made a "Master Chief Collection" style game for all of the PS3 to modern era games. If Activision is too greedy then they could stop at the point where they enacted cross-play for every games.

They could just as easily do that if they chose to set it in World War I, too. Mountain warfare in the Italian alps; riverine and amphibious operations in Mesopotamia; jungle warfare in West Africa; guerrilla warfare in the East African bush or the mountains of southern Serbia; desert campaign in the Sinai; the forest and steppes of the Eastern Front...

WW1 has trench warfare, more melee combat and one very important thing, gas warfare. Something that WW2 doesn't have (yes, there is no such thing as gas warfare in WW2. Dont believe that historical inaccurate BS). There was also giant machineries actually used in the war, such as the Livens Flame Projector in Somme and zepellins.

It's sad people conflat WW2 and WW1 together and game devs have to bring in their own ridiculous BS into WW2 that is literally non-existent (see gas mask for example).

A WW1 game could excel very well in uniqueness if we stuck to historical accuracy. Almost everyone only gets a bolt action rifle and have to simulate actual trench warfare like running back and forth across enemy lines within time limits with artillery exploding all around you and thousands of soldiers fighting all at once. The WW1 Battlefield did is such a huge disservice to how the actual war was like. They just turned it into an arcade like another typical battlefield game
