Small wedding. Just some family and friends, I don't need the whole world attending.

Of course, if the bride to be wanted something larger I'd be willing to go down that path.

No, but If you and or your family(s) can comfortably afford it then go for it.

It's when couple who arent well off and should be using that money for a downpayment on a house instead is where issues arise.

Got no intention of getting married despite planning on staying with girlfriend for the rest of my life.

I'd just rather spend the money on other things.

People don't seem to have really big weddings anymore. Most of my friends and family who got married over the past 5 years had very small ceremonies.

The smaller the better. Honestly I'd be fine with a courthouse marriage.

JfC, are you rich?

Ours was like 10 people, and it was nice. Someday we want to throw a bigger party, like Maybe for our 10 year anniversary we'll renew our vows or some shit, but we wanted something really small and intimate for our wedding.

Eh ive been to a few big ones recently (pre pandemic). In most cases it was clearly wealthy parents behind it, though i know one couple who took out loans for a very expensive (and imo tacky) wedding

We went a little big because we really just wanted to throw a big party. The money mostly went to food/drinks/venue, barely spent anything on stuff like dress/tux/flowers.

But i get wanting a courthouse wedding + small party

This, plus it's cheaper as well.

Honestly, the idea of a wedding kind of freaks me out anyway, since I have a degree of social anxiety; while I'm getting over it, having so many eyes focused on me would still freak me out.

I got married in Vegas but we told people to join us if theyd like and we got 50 people to join us. We did a quick fun Elvis ceremony then had a nice reception at the Eiffel tower restaurant which looks right at the Bellagio fountains. I'm since divorced but I still talk about how fucking awesome it was with my friends and even my ex.
The guests mostly came from the Detroit/Toronto area, but some even came from Australia. It was fucking great
