If you DO have a state, you can still decriminalize human movement. If you've ever moved between cities, you have a glimpse of what that would look like.

It is much harder when you have sovereign states that claim exclusive jurisdiction over specific people and their behaviour. States don't like losing power over "their" citizens and land.

This is why human movement is criminalized in general (without explicit exceptions and permissions) worldwide.

Theyre also from a world with like half a billion people. Something I bring up whenever people start talking about overpopulation is how much better populations would work if we werent corralled in some antique and arbitrary nations from the fancy wig days.

I've moved from state to state many times and there was zero issue. Country to country I assume is harder though

Reality does not work like this.

People are moving either the borders are open or not.
Decades of maltreating migrant humans has proven this strategy inefficient to limit population movements.

You are right, but most people in rich countries are fundamentally fine with it. Some even cheer the violence. They consider it essential to their quality of life. And especially if the violence happens at borders they don't see or through the administrative state.

Open borders = capitalism.
Hear me out...
The countries with the best government, will get most of the regional population. This in turn FORCES other governments to better themselves, to keep their population from leaving. Just like how businesses must be competitive, so will government.
