I live in NYC. Outside of the occasional crazy homeless person on the subway most people are chill.

They aren't rude. Just minding their own business ignoring other people. To people in south that's considered rude, but it's not.

NYC is my second favorite Eastern city behind DC. Lived there 2 years from L.A. and yeah there is something in the water (worter as some there say). The NYC, Philly and NJ scene has some shit, trash, crass, crude, rude and all around jerks. The men are worse.

That's actually the perfect way to explain it.

"New Yorkers" (which is basically meant to be people in NYC, not the entire state) tend to be very self involved. They're basically conditioned to ignore their surroundings because there's SO much going on, if they stopped at every little distraction, they'd never get to their destination.

It comes off as rude or standoffish, but it's basically just the idea of "I'll mind my business if you mind yours".

I work as a mountain guide in CO

Without question our rudest clients live in NYC. No one on the crew likes getting stuck with NYC clients. They're, by a large majority, rude and entitled and they've always seen cooler stuff and done cooler stuff and make more money than you. But maybe that's only the kind of New Yorker that drops thousands of dollars to vacation in the Rockies

On the other end of the spectrum Texans think everything is amazing and are so friendly

Yeah? Tell a Texan that you've been to Texas and that it's "just ok".

You'll see how unfriendly they can be.

I was visiting a friend who lives in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, and we drove to Houston to watch the Astros/Yankees playoff game the year the Astros won the WS.

The guy sitting next to me heard my accent and asked where I was from. I said New York. He asked what I thought of Houston, and Texas as a whole. I said "It basically looks like Long Island, with just a lot more nothingness between towns." Because that's basically what it looks like. A few miles of countryside, followed by the same Target/WalMart/Fast Food/etc you see everywhere else.

You would've thought I slit his mother's throat with those words.

I new a girl who moved here from NY in high school. She was very bossy, and rude. Fit perfectly with that stereotype.

I get lots of guests from NY at my current job too. For the most part they're fine, but there are quite a few that are quite short and to the point, which seems rude at face value. I just figured in a bigger city there's probably less time for pleasantries and it's better to get to the point.

Well I can only comment on my clients, people who are paying to rock and ice climb. I'm sure there are entitled people everywhere

I've never been to TX or NY
