My dog and I have been attacked twice while out for walks, first by two dogs that I think are some kind of bloodhound mix and the second by some kind of rottweiler mix. I was kicking the shit out of them during both attacks but it didn't deter them at all and they didn't stop until the owners got them. After the second time, I started carrying a hunting knife with me and had to make peace with the fact that I will use it if we get attacked by big dogs again.

I'm trying to be proactive, walk when few other people are out with their dogs, avoid houses I know have problem dogs, and go out of my way to avoid dickheads with unleashed dogs but I can't avoid all dogs all the time and I know it' s inevitably going to happen again because people around here are generally irresponsible. I've had people let their unleashed dogs run up to my dog and they think it's cute and funny. When I'm not laughing and tell them to get their dog away from us, they look like I did something wrong to them. We haven't been attacked in those situations and I hope it continues to work out that way but if it doesn't,

Its not fear. I love all dogs. Been a volunteer for 20 years at shelters worldwide. Love pits and rotties. You can sit there all you want "lol teh fear teh fear" but when your dog is being attacked sitting there abd sayibg "lol teh fear teh fear" isnt going to do shit.

I'm sure instincts would kick in and I'd try to beat up the dog or chokehold it or whatever the fuck my instincts would tell me to do despite how unsuccessful I would likely be and how much danger I'd be putting myself in.

Then I'd yell for someone else to call 911 (assuming I or someone else hadn't yelled that already) while I grab hold of the owner and do whatever I can do make sure the cops get em
