A recent study conducted by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) found that supervisors are not happy with the extra work associated with remote work. The findings of the survey showed that supervisors dont hold remote workers in high regard. Managers reported negative perceptions of the work-from-home trend.
The managers were brutally honest. Nearly 70% replied that remote workers are more easily replaceable than onsite workers. About 67% of supervisors said they spend more time supervising remote workers than onsite workers. Around 43% of supervisors say they sometimes forget about remote workers when assigning tasks [and] 72 % say they would prefer all of their subordinates to be working in the office.

Yet studies show remote workers make companies more money and are more productive.

Problem is, when you work from home you manage yourself.

Middle managers and supervisors are usually extremely redundant and very easily replaceable themselves in my experience

I've said this quite a few times here throughout the pandemic but middle management needs a reason to exist. Work from home has basically made it clear as day how useless they are outside of being a glorified babysitter.

They forget about remote workers when assigning tasks? Then they're really bad at managing work, which is their fucking job lmao

i believe it. I know a lot of supervisors/managers who dont read emails so they typically have to be reminded of shit when youre talking to them.

now they have to actually do their fucking jobs and read emails.

Depends on the industry. I agree with most industries but in mine they are a pretty vital part of communicating between departments and getting us resources for projects and shit. If there wasnt a supervisor in my department it would mean a shitload of work for us and someone would have to willingly go communicate a bunch of shit to both us and our supporting departments, which would pretty much just make that dude a supervisor anyways lol.
