Doubt it. Taliban has been at this for decades, fighting and dying. Texans talk tough and show off their gun collection, but would run just as fast when confronted with people used to going up against NATO and the US military.

The Hurt Locker touched on this really well I thought...oddly enough a few episodes of L. A. s Finest also dealt with the PTSD of a solider in the first situation

It was a rhetorical question tbh. The point is that we should know by now (vietnam highlighted this) that you can't directly engage with an enemy that ingratiates itself with the people you're supposed to be "saving".

The so called Afghan army by all accounts was rife with corruption, desertion and lacked resources to fight. Meanwhile the Taliban used bribes and threats to win them over or get them to stand down.

It was never a battle.
