Any time there's a taliban leader declared, I dont' see why we don't just send a cruise missile their way. Don't send in any troops, just lob some ordinance their way.

Where are you going to lob it? Just seems like a way to make the conflict even worse by inspiring more terrorists.

If you are not 100% sure where your target is, then you shouldn't be lobbing ordinance.

Basic rule of weapons handling, if you're not ABSOLUTELY sure your target is where you think it is; then you don't launch it, PERIOD!

Not worth the collatoral damage that it might cause.

This heart wrenching. I can't imagine what all those people are going through right now. I only just saw pics of the airport with everyone fleeing and it was terrible.

I know there's no easy solution, but it certainly feels like we're just throwing them to the wolves.

There's never an easy solution.

If you want to eradicate the Taliban, it would get very bloody very fast.

But that requires you to invade their territory & be in Search & Destroy mode.

The Leadership in the US during Bush Jr., Obama, Trump, & Biden don't have the cajones for that.

The other solution would've been to liberate all the women and relocate them to another country.

Let the Taliban die out of old age and not have the ability to repopulate.

That also would've been bloody, but maybe a bit less bloody.

Either way, there are no blood-less solutions.

How else are you going to prevent the growth of the Taliban and expanding their #'s?

There's not "Blood-less" solution that I can think of.

Their going to repopulate no matter how decimated they get.

So the only solution is either obliteration, or remove their ability to repopulate.

Either way is going to be a messy solution.

One at least can rescue women & children and bring them to another country for safety.

The most 'bloodless' potential solution is probably investing a lot of money and resources into Afghanistan so it can be a much more productive and modern country so people don't feel the need to join or surrender to the Taliban but that's something that will take at least an entire generation to make it work and there's still no guarantee that it would. Clearly military occupation isn't enough and it hasn't been working for the last 20 years.

Abducting women and children will just make more extremists. From your perspective you're liberating. From theirs you're ripping apart families. It can't just be women and children.

Nobody wants to invest in Afghanistan given the Taliban presence, it's a Chicken or the Egg ordeal.
If you want companies to invest, the Taliban needs to be gone and peace needs to be had.

If you want permanent peace, you might have to do something extreme.

Just building things for them hasn't solved squat.

It might make more extremists out of the remaining men, but they can't repopulate if there are no women to repopulate with.

If the Women & Children are in another country, they can start a new life, free from the old ways.

Then you only have a finite list of potential extremists to deal with.

It isn't a good solution, it's just a better solution than out-right obliteration and glass-ing the place.
