Still no six-pack. Maybe a little closer, idk. I actually went from 50 to 80 per day by increments of 10 as they grew easier. Also did some running, but I ate like shit as I always do. Feeling a little discouraged. Got a little pouch of fat on my belly that I think I need to get rid of, the upper ones are feeling a little more prominent. Arm/chest pic included because I'm going to commit to doing 30+ pull-ups a day next month in addition to the sit-ups to hopefully get some gains there. Chest needs gains more than arms atm imo, feeling pretty pathetic there.

Yeah, I have a lot of self-control in most other respects, but not so much where food is concerned. Also doesn't help that I work in a kitchen. Always little snacks to pass the time. Gotta be more disciplined there for sure.

Sit ups dont really do anything except ruin your back, this is common knowledge

that being said, how much protein are you taking in, because its probably not enough, you look like you weigh about 180, which means you wanna be getting at least 360 grams of protein a day, 2 grams of protein to 1 lb of body weight

Yeah, working on it. Got some workout equipment lately because I don't have any gyms worth the name near me. Next month will be about limiting the junk, eating better, and pumping some iron.

lol I'm about 5'9" 135-140 if my scale is correct (which it may not be, I've had reason to believe it under-reported in the past)
I'd love to gain some more while limiting the fat as much as possible, I'll focus on adding some more protein to my diet.

Aww thanks, that's kind of you to say. I guess it's ... sort of a bait topic? I've had major insecurities w/r/t my body since around 11-12, and used to only wear baggy sweatshirts like a weirdo. I'm trying really hard to get to a point where my view of myself isn't aligned with, say, DespondentDeity's. Still a work in progress.

Crunches are better in my experience and you gotta have some substantial protein intake. I wrestled for 13 years and in that time I very rarely did sit ups. I was told its bad for your back and neck. 4 years at MSU and we NEVER did sit ups.

just do crunches for core strength? I do bicycle crunches, but open to new shit

well no, not really
50 became 80, and I also incline walked/ran ~20 miles a week
and my diet was better for the first half before I fell off the wagon when I started working in a kitchen again

I think next month I'm going to commit to less sugar and more protein, and replace sit-ups with pull-ups. I'm starting with like 45-60 a day. We'll see if I'm able to improve. I like forcing myself to post my picture here because it holds me accountable. And thanks for all the kind words, you guys are amazing.

Your abs look okay. Like if you want perfect ones you'll want a little more definition which is a dietary issue. Youve got a smidge of stubborn fat on your belly that will be pretty much the last spot to lose it if you go that route. Maybe a tiny bit more of lower ab work with some V ups or something. Some sort if twisting motion for better obliques. This is all super knit picky though.

Also, beware with lower ab work. For lots of folks the added pressure there results in hemorrhoids. It's not fun.

In your shoes I'd probably just build up my shoulders more tbh. It'll give you a better taper and not make the eyes only focus on your abs. Also, I can't tell if it's your posing or not, but yoyr rear delts look underdeveloped and pulls your shoulders forward a lot. If you address that issue instead of focusing on abs, you'd look 10x better imo.

Edit: just realized you're the guy that got a power cage. That'll make your work so much easier to do. There's a million pull up/ab exercises that you can do at the same time. Do those and it addresses both issues

Yeah I have a long history of chin-ups. A year ago I was wearing a 50-pound backpack and doing sets of like 7-8ish (though only once every 4/5 days), but I had some cheap-ass setup in a closet doorframe that was damaging the wall once I started adding weight. Now in the past couple weeks I got a much better setup where I don't have to worry about it, but I've atrophied a bit and I'm down to like 3-4 with the backpack. Pull-ups/chin-ups are actually my favorite exercise so I'm excited to really go deeper into it than I have in the past.

lol yep, that's exactly why I got the power cage. Got it a couple weeks ago and procrastinated a little on setting it up, but I'm going to take full advantage of it this month! And if you're referring to the last picture, I was making sort of an awkward pose because I wasn't really paying attention and was straining to make my arms look a little less twiggy. But noted, I'll look into what I can do for some shoulder work. Thanks for the advice!

Having good looking abs is mostly genetics. Some people just have crazy good looking muscle insertions. Even The Rock as muscular and juiced as he is doesn't have good looking abs.
