UnfairRepresent 08/12/21 5:36:51 AM #1:	Laura Dale and Jane Magnet travelled on the West Coast Main Line when they first met, so winning a competition to have their wedding on a train was a "dream come true". The newlyweds, from Surrey, beat 150 other entries for the opportunity to say "I do" on an Avanti West Coast service. The couple were wed by Avanti West Coast train manager and ex-clergyman Peter Davis The line connects the major cities of London and Glasgow with branches to Birmingham, Liverpool, Manchester and Edinburgh. They had hoped to get married nearly two years ago but were delayed by a combination of the COVID-19 pandemic, finances and logistics. After gathering for a champagne reception at London Euston, the pair and 18 guests boarded a Pendolino carriage decorated with flowers. Two of the guests were Ms Dale's sisters, who she had not seen since the pandemic began. A wedding breakfast was laid out for people to enjoy before the couple cut their train-themed wedding cake, and speeches were given by friends and family. "As a huge train fan, today has been a dream come true, having Jane and our friends and family with us as we celebrated our wedding at high speed," said Ms Dale. "Trains are a huge part of my life. The first time Jane and I met in person, we travelled on the West Coast Main Line to a video game convention in Telford, and we often travel onboard with friends to Birmingham Comic-Con." The 29-year-old added: "Jane used to travel to Birmingham New Street to see her nan, so this route has a real place in her heart, and today will forever take us to our happy place as we think back to the ceremony." Avanti West Coast's executive director of customer experience Natasha Grice said helping the train fanatics celebrate their special day was "incredibly exciting and heart-warming". She added: "This wedding has been a highlight for our team and will be fondly remembered for years to come." Probably okay now during covid with a fraction of the people and less trains running I went several times a few years ago and it sucked Smelly, dirty, crowded, badly ventilated, like 26 or whatever platforms that are awkward to get too as thousands of people walk back and forth like sardines with fat moms who have 5 kids and giant shopping bags block people at every turn, taking up as much space as humanly possible and full of druggies and petty criminals trying to steal any bag or suitcase they can Then the information is frequently wrong. You'll all be waiting at platform 5 and suddenly the intercom you can barely hear over the noise muffles that your train is now actually pulling it at platform 18 and you and 300 other people are now rushing to it because that train won't wait, it'll pull in and out faster than a teenager losing their virginity And even by UK standards everyone is miserable and unpleasant . Screaming racist and sexist insults at other, throwing food everywhere, drinking , throwing up, no concept of personal space. They make Paddington and Marylebone look like well functioning first class facilities for the rich I've been to a lot of countries and places. I never saw a worse railway station. I'm sure India and China have worse but never been to them . Oatcakes 08/12/21 7:09:21 AM #13:	Last time I went New Street was when the pubs were open until 10pm or whatever. Wasn't busy when I got there and wasn't busy when I used it to get back to Stoke. There were enough signs about to see where you needed to go, not sure how it being busy would make it harder to see them. Did see a guy kicking off at one of the food places though. --- F.C.
