It's better than McDonald's, that's about all I can say about it. Still just a fast food burger joint in the end

He prolly would had he lived in a bigger market city. Whataburger is cheap and assessible to the average Kansas City Citizen.

It's just marketing.
It's a no-brainer.

I find it crazy that my store is not reaching out to Barstool for some easy Marketing.

No dude it's because he legit loves Whataburger

Also yeah he's being smart with his money, instead of buying a bunch of material shit he's gone in on ownership groups for both other major sports franchises in KC and now this. Dude's gonna have income for the rest of his life after football

Chance of any of them being north of the river?
The Wendys in Liberty burned down recently. That would be a decent-ish location.

If it's including every city that's within KC's metropolitan it's actually a pretty good number.

KC is a monstrously bloated sprawl, and the "metro area" devours the entire 816 and 913 area codes and then some.

You seem to think that KC is organized like a "coastal" town, instead of being a huge blob spread out over two (possibly three) states.

There arent even that many in Houston, TX. And were significantly bigger than KC in every way.

Anyone who thinks 30 Whataburgers throughout KCMO and surrounding suburbs is too much is ignorant. It's a massive area. Surely includes Lenexa, Olathe, Lee's Summit, Independence, like there's so much space and a ton of areas, not to mention at least 3-4 will go in the downtown area/surrounding area alone.

30 is a great number. Not too much, but not too little that you'll be stuck driving a long way for one.

The misleading topic title is likely contributing to the confusion.

Their store locator doesnt think so but Houston is five times larger by square mileage so my point still stands.

By your numbers he should be opening 12.

If it was entirely based on population count maybe, but the fact that it's over a large area and that most of the 30 are going to be in the KC area, not all of them, I think they'll be okay.

I confess I dont know what the restaurant situation is in Kansas City but that is a laughably high per capita ratio of Whataburgers.

I hope he has someone who can convince him to maybe do half of them and see what happens because he is going to be closing a bunch in a year.

Man if youre going to use the whole metro area it goes from them being five times smaller to:

Houston
population - 7.06m
area - 9444 sq miles

Kansas City
population - 485k
area - 319 sq miles

He should open Whataburgers if he wants to but jesus christ football players are bad with their money.

More so when you realize the St Joseph and Topeka metro areas are essentially contiguous.

Thats still less than a third of the possible customers. Which is the important part.

Its an extremely aggressive plan that I hope someone is able to convince him to at least do in stages. Because he is going to lose a shitload of money.

Protip: Whenever anyone just refers to Kansas City, they really mean the Greater Kansas City Metropolitan area. If they mean the city specifically they will say KCMO or KCK.

I mean dude is doing this as a part of a larger restaurant group. I would expect that they have quite a bit of expertise in the area. It isn't like a 25 year-old is just YOLOing 30 Whataburgers into existence.

Thats why I originally went with a comparison of the numbers for downtown.

You know what I changed my mind. He should build sixty Whataburgers.

Really do it right.
