Say you're on a cruise ship and its torpedoed by the Germans , leaving you stranded on a desert island

Several freezers float to the island from the wreck but after looking in every single one, all there is bacon and beer. Enough to last years.



How long could you survive?

The bacon is likely uncooked and therefore useless and constant consumption beer will likely result in liver disease and HBP or even renal failure so gonna assume I'd die in like a month give or take.

Sun dry the bacon into jerky or use for fish bait

I'd have to get fancy with the beer and fresh water

So, I have "years" worth of both, but no way to keep them cold, assuming these aren't magic freezers that don't require electricity?

I guess they're propane or solar powered or battery

The cruise ship was tordedoed by Germans? What is this, the year 1942?
And a desert island?
Meaning, nothing but earth, dirt, and soil. No vegetation, eh? No shelter either? Where is this island? How large is it? Oh, I guess it doesn't matter. It's a desert island with nothing but desert. I suppose I can just squeeze the sand grains for drinking water. Except I cannot.
But I have hundreds of crates of warm beer and bacon. The beer is a dehydrant, so I will be thristy and hammered.
I'll probably go insane after a few days stab myself to death with a smashed bottle.

For the hypothetical, were supposed to assume they're solar powered.

Like someone said, some of that bacon can be used as fish bait, and if you're lucky you can supplement your diet with some seafood.

Otherwise, the salt content of the bacon and the lack of fresh water (better hope this island is tropical and you get you fair share of rain), you're not going to last very long.

Probably a few weeks/months, assuming there are NO other food sources on the island (fruits, vegetables, etc.)
