@DarkRoast sorry if this annoys you, i just know youre a doctor, feel free to ignore lol

I was at the beach on Friday and stepped on a barnacle or urchin or something that made a big and deep gash on the sole of my foot, in the plantar fascia area. I went to an urgent care and they cleaned and disinfected it and sealed it with some glue-type thing and prescribed me antibiotics

well today the glue came undone, and the wound isnt bleeding at all, but i looked inside and i can still see some sand/dirt in there. it doesnt look infected or like theres tons of pus or swelling or anything

is it worth going back to having it cleaned/resealed, or will it still heal up fine? im not really sure how i could get the sand out without further opening the wound as something like a q tip wont really fit in there. just dont want it to get infected or get any possibly negative repercussions of the wound healing with sand in it

that seems a little extremethe wound isnt bleeding or in any worse pain and has been getting better since friday. im just curious if i should go back to an urgent care clinic tomorrow to get it re-cleaned before it heals lol

I would go see your primary doctor if not urgent care. Not a doctor, but it seems like common sense not to let it heal while dirt/sand remains in there.

You go to an ER for a non-bleeding, non-weeping wound and you'll be there for 6 hours minimum. At the end of it, they would have just changed your dressing and maybe write you an Rx for Bactrim.

Admittedly, feet and hands are not really my area of expertise, but in general sealing off a wound is a bad idea, as it forms an artificial abscess that is perfect for the bacteria to grow. But in this case, I simply don't have enough information or knowledge of the subject.
