The reason why it's like this is because of most of you on here. People like me, who doesn't care if I make a bunch of money so long as I can support myself, are very rare. A majority of people, not just in America, but all around the world, are materialistic vampires that need to buy all this fancy shit they don't need, so they have to keep making more and more money and holding everyone else down.

I bet most of you would never take a pay cut at work in order to bring other people up to your level and make their lives better.

I've never taken a pay cut, but I've never asked for a raise either. So long as I make enough money to support myself, that's all I need. I barley make money as it is, but I still tip people at Starbucks $5 when I go in there, and I give people at the weed store $20 when I go there. I don't even make $1,200 a month

If I was one of these people that was making enough money to put into savings after paying all of my bills, I would have ZERO issues making much less, so long as I could still pay my bills. I don't even go out to eat, I just cook my own food. But when I do go out the eat, I sure the fuck don't complain about how much it is, how much to tip.

Another example would be working during the Summer. I've been their the longest so I get the first choice to work during the Summer to make extra money, but I don't need the extra money that badly, so I let the people with kids work the Summer so they can make some extra money. And then I just go in and cover for them if they need to take a day or two off, which is often, because they have got to get a new tattoo with that extra money instead of taking their kids out and having some fun or something

Yes but only when there are robust systems in place to prevent companies from getting too large or working together to keep prices high.

Also not really applicable to things with inelastic demand or essential goods thay only have one supplier. You can't drive yourself to a cheaper hospital when you are on deaths door. You can't change internet providers if there is only 1 around.

Now you've fired 6 of them because you have the robots to help you. So you have an extra $600 a week, but they don't give that money to the other 4 workers, they keep it for themselves because that is the goal in this American life - make as much money as you can

A business is going to pay an employee a wage that will attract them to take the job that nets them a profit. There's zero reason to hire them otherwise. Because if they aren't making you more money then you're paying them they're most likely a net loss.

And they would if they need to allocate that cash flow to retain their employees. It's not like automation is just an upfront cost. Machinery has to be maintained. Which means you're gonna have to pay the costs to maintain it and pay people to do it for you. You're also going to have to hire people who are capable of using that machinery until full automation is a thing, which is not in the foreseeable future. A more skilled laborer is going to have more market value which means you're going to have to pay them more.

I'm just giving a very basic example. The WWE, for example, is making the most money it's ever made, and they just fired over 100 people in the past year in order to make even more money. Why? Because the people that buy their stock want to make more money, and because those type of people only care about the money they make for them and their own, they don't care if ruining the lives of other people accomplish that goal. That's how a lot of people in America are, not just the "evil corporations". And it's not even the people in America, it's humans in general. Not many people can put aside their own happiness and success in order to make someone else's life better

Ideally our multiple parties should operate to prevent us from going too far either way.. Keeping monopolies in check and ensuring competition while making sure tax dollars are being properly utilized for the benefit of the country.

Instead it's monopolies manipulating politics on both ends to siphon tax dollars and promote destructive policies to further enhance their ability to drain the common man.

I don't know anything about the WWE but if they let 100 people go it's because they didn't need them on staff anymore for whatever reason.

You can look at that as cold hearted and cruel if you want to but it's just the optimal thing to do. I get that it sucks to get laid off but it's not the end of the world. There are other jobs.

luxuries, pretty much across the board, are much cheaper today.

core consumer products cost less relative to income, but haven't gotten cheaper. cars and clothing are things most folks would have a tough time doing without, and they've stayed the same cost over time.

basic necessities have grown more expensive over time. housing and food have tracked incomes almost to the letter; healthcare and education have grown more expensive at much faster rates than individual incomes.

the more critical it is for you to have, the less capitalism has done to make it cheaper.
