That's when GPUs will become more available. The publicity on how much can be earned fueled people to do this who never would have otherwise, and this generation was different due to the pandemic. So it busted open a new wave. We're approaching a year since the new video cards and consoles were released and they're still nearly impossible to get without paying scalper prices. I got a 3080 prebuilt before even those prices skyrocketed and have no regrets. Now 3070 prebuilts with similar specs overall are going for more than I paid for mine in December last year. Crypto has next to nothing to do with the problem, big miners haven't used gpus for mining in a long time.
