Only super nerds know or care about Dune.

The 80s movie was bad.

Yes, because big scifi blockbuster starring tons of currently popular movie stars is going to have no appeal to the general audience

The average movie goer is not going to see it. I have been in dozens of shows and after a preview I can hear people say, "that looks stupid". If it isn't funny or very simple, most people won't have an interest.

We used to have empires ruled by emperors. There used to be kingdoms lead by kings. Now all we got are countries.

Dune is going to flop hard
Yes, thank you. It's "Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy" all over again. A select few, who can quote lines, will go see it in the theaters. Most people who have already seen some form of Dune will catch it on HBO when they've got two hours to kill. And everyone else will just ignore it.

Because it looks generic as shit. They should have just gone "tits on a spaceship" crazy and given the media something to talk about.

I mean Blade Runner 2049 flopped and it's one of the best sci fi movies ever. I feel like Dune has even less appeal than BR, so yeah probably going to flop hard.

It's one the movies studios use as "sacrificial lambs" so they can write off more in taxes at the end of the year. They do this with big budget movies they hype up and everyone knows they're gonna suck on a regular basis.

Tbh I think it could do really well if their marketing wasnt shit. And if they would stop talking about the 5 to 6 hour cut that supposedly exists.

I wonder if it'll be like those movie thats spends too much of its budget on the star's wages than on the actual movie.

Anyway, i know nothing but what this dune is. From what i seen from the trailer, it doesnt look very interesting.

Dune is dope. I like the trailers. It didnt give away too much.

I thought the 80s movie was like 1/3 of the movie saga planned. Basically, they poured and invested in the production of movie dune back then with a very very ambitious director. Like pre production and planning was throughout the 70s i think. They were gonna change cinematography forever kinda thing. It took too long. The tech wasnt there and it got really expensive. The investors and studio gave a new director the project and was like heres what we got, finish this movie. So they did and we got the 80s movie dune. I think thats how it went down.

Yeah see, I'd watch a movie called "Tits on a Spaceship" without even seeing a trailer. That's just good advertising.
