I had a friend in high school who kept talking to me despite my horrible attitude. I thought maybe I was happy once I stopped walking away. But relying on others is a folly. That person is gone. Sometimes I wonder if maybe I didn't just imagine them. My memory plays tricks on me. I don't know what's real. It doesn't matter anyway. I don't want to be happy. I'm settling for my pain to end. I tell myself that one day, I'll be at peace. It takes a lot of work just to get to a point where you can say that your life is ok, I think.
