Because all people arent perfect. It just means they are better at lying, either through visual presentation or just withholding information

some people don't recognize a good thing when they have it, self-destructive behavior. Others are convinced it's some kind of scam.

Why do people dislike people who are "too good?"

For dating, it can make that person seem "unattainable".

In a relationship, it can frustrate the other partner who's less ideal because it "raises the bar" for them to be a better/more competitive partner (something LAZY partners do NOT want to do).

You ever see a couple where Partner A was talented, diligent, attractive, charismatic, and devoted...yet Partner B still decided to break up with them over petty shit?

It's usually because Partner B is insecure trash by comparison and doesn't like acknowledging that getting a chance with a substantially more impressive partner was winning a lottery in life. Nope, too big of a hit to the ego. They're still butthurt that, despite miraculously attracting an amazing 1-in-1,000,000 partner like that, it didn't happen on picture perfect flattering terms. It's a delusion commonly soaked in insecurity, narcissism, and spoiled privilege.

A lot of insecure people are just feeling hurt. Maybe it's 100% their fault that they feel that way but it doesn't inherently make them an asshole nor does being an asshole mean you're envious. Everyone just reacts to things differently, if someone's feeling salty, let them be. It's really only a problem if they continuously express their dislike of said person, then maybe they're getting obsessive about it.

As an asshole myself, I have no insecurity about this and while I may be skeptical, I don't disbelieve that there are some people who are genuine in this way. It isn't going to be my first assumption and it's kinda gross to me that you're up at 6 AM eating raisin bran cereal but I'm not gonna hate that, raisin bran is tasty.

I don't care if someone's super awesome in helping the community better than I can. If they're legit, I see them as a beneficial force of nature, not competition. Their presence and contributions will eventually help people I care about anyway.

Jealous people who bitch about that are just pissed someone else (who fucking deserves it) is the star...

Good people learn to enjoy a supporting role as well.

This social phenomena can also occur in dating and relationships.

I'm a pretty good person all in all as far as being kind to everybody and working hard to get what I want. I'll always run into people that work harder..they don't bother me though, they just allow me to see my faults and strive to improve them and try to get to the next level. Taking action and showing respect for those that are still at a higher level than me is, imho a great sign of self-confidence.

I have a similar stance physically. As guys we're always sub-consciously competing and comparing with each other. Height, muscularity, etc. It's not a bad thing, as long as you're secure enough to accept your place and know when someone is bigger or stronger than you. At 6'2 I rarely run into taller guys, but when I do my brain goes into caution mode telling me to show respect and yield to them. Especially if they're not only 2-4 inches taller but have huge arms that are 2-4 inches bigger (mine are 14 in, average-ish) Basically, if we both like the same girl I have to accept the fact that his odds are better than mine, and I had better just let it happen because I don't want to fk with him.

On the flip side, insecure guys would take cheap shots physically or mentally to try to bring the better man down to his level. Pathetic. all the bully's I remember were always the short little pieces of insecure shit; the big tall and strong guys were always laid back and bothered no one. They didn't have to, their presence and body language already established dominance.

Jealousy.
