Which RTS game would be the most rewarding to get into?

I wanna start playing one of these. Which should I pick?

Rewarding? The only one that is taken seriously as a competitive game is SC1.

In terms of quality to just play casually, all three are fine but starcraft has a lot less options/races

Starcraft is the best RTS, WC3 is the best game overall because of the incredible custom content.

Oh wait. Reforged happened. Scratch WC3.

the original warcraft 3 still exists, just need to get it somewhere else i.e. second hand or if someone were willing to give you their copy for free. a poor remake doesnt erase the legacy of the original, just like a bad fanbase doesn't ruin a single player games experience

Rewarding?
I guess what I mean by rewarding is which feels the most satisfying long term? After I've learned all the mechanics, which one will better make me feel like I outsmarted my enemy in a multiplayer game? Which one feels more fun while playing individual games?

Starcraft is very deep, complex and skill intensive.

You're right there. I still have my original copies, over 20 years old now. Battle Chest edition.

AOE2. Though my favourite RTS is Red Alert 2.

Starcraft, not even close. Sc2 is better though

AOE2 games can last a really long time lol

I voted for Starcraft... But play II if possible.

You guys are probably right about Star Craft II being the best choice.

I'm having a blast with AoEII. I feel like if I REALLY put a lot of time into it, there would be more variety in this game overall than Starcraft. But be damned if I want to sit down and play for an hour or longer every time I play. Starcraft rarely takes longer than 30 minutes from what I understand.

I find WC3 the most fun, AoE2 has more content, and SC is just a perfect cheese pizza

Age of Empires II's new version is an absolutely monumental expansion, and ha really brought a lot of modern quality of life changes to what is otherwise still an amazing RTS. Your best value would definitely be the Age of Empires II definitive edition. Literally a ton of story campaigns and other content, and the game itself is obviously great (though youll want plenty of practice on NPCs before you try online). The single player alone is worth it though.

Edit: Oh I see you have it already, well done
